Lestat admits he "doesn't know what possessed him that night." Claudia interrupts to clarify he meant "that night three years ago," as if there's any doubt (presumably a very clumsy way of telling the audience it's been three years). There is evidence that there was violence that night. We know the showrunner, writers, and actors have all talked about how differently we'll look on s1 after s2, and have been told some of this is Armand's fault.īut let's go look at the other side: what evidence is there within the show itself that the DV did not happen, or didn't happen the way it appeared? ![]() We know that when Louis wasn't lying in the book, there were still a lot of Lestat's deeds he lacked any context for. We know Armand's capabilities, his beef with Lestat, and the fact that his love can be twice as destructive as his hate (I love him, but he's a mess). We know part of Claudia's motivation in allying with Louis was knowing Lestat would never agree to harm him. We know Lestat is capable of doing heinous shit (which, don't get me started on a "this is TVC, not TVD" rant), but he would never do it to Louis specifically. And is so mad and sad that he didn’t! □īook fans have been assuming we know where the show is going with the Lestat-DV angle because, well, we've read the books. Like, Armand really seriously thought Louis would just “get over it” in time. But you’re dead inside to me, you’re cold and beyond my reach! It is as if I’m not here, beside you. All the things that gave you happiness would give me happiness and I would be the protector of your pain. And time would open to us, and we would be the teachers of one another. I knew this! I understood it! And I believed I would gather you to me and hold you. Not in the way that I loved you, and the way that you loved us both. ![]() And I thought that when the pain was gone you would forgive me for what part I played in her death. I thought it was a part of you that couldn’t die. I used to believe you would get over it, that when the pain of all of it left you, you would grow warm again and filled with love, and filled with that wild and insatiable curiosity with which you first came to me, that inveterate conscience, and that hunger for knowledge that brought you all the way to Paris to my cell. Yep, that is pretty much what Armand says to Louis toward the end of the book, lol! Daniel’s all like “Shit, bro, I don’t know what to tell ya.” Turns out Armand’s methods of seduction have (unbelievably) pushed Louis away.
